Job Description: QA/QC & Compliance Manager
Responsibilities: Reporting to the VP of R&D, this position will oversee all operations to comply with the FDA, USDA, customer and company quality and food safety system standard. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Design and implement food safety systems
  • Maintain and monitor all quality and food safety systems (GMP, Allergen Policy, Pest Control, Maintenance Plan etc.)
  • Train all employees in food safety principles
  • Achieve SQF Level III Certification
  • Ensure that all raw materials and finished products meet corporate, customer and SQF standards
  • Define and coordinate clear SOP’s
  • Maintain and continuously improve the HACCP program
  • Monitor and enforce all sanitation and housekeeping procedures
  • Manage and monitor FDA, State, Third Party, or Customer audits and communication
  • Supervise inspections, reports and documentation issues by inspectors and collect and file the required Quality Records
  • Support Regulatory and ensure regulatory compliance and implementation
  • Produce and maintain finished product specifications, nutritional documents, allergen documents, SDSs, Ingredient Breakdown, COAs, etc.
  • Effectively interact with customers to ensure, COAs, complaints, document requests, and technical inquiries are accurately completed
  • Manage compliance to all applicable, Kosher, Halal, Organic and Non-GMO programs.
  • Maintains all operational systems’ quality and food safety records
  • Keep Quality and Food Safety Manual Up to Date
  • Manage and monitor all Quality and Food Safety documentation for FDA, State, Third Party, or Customer Audits
  • Supervise and manage quality technicians
  • Oversight of safe food handling practices in the warehouse and manufacturing areas, including ensuring compliance of all GMPs, SQF safety plans, as well as work with Operation Management to continually improve the efficiency and food safety of the manufacturing equipment

Requirements:  Successful candidate will have:
  • BS degree in Food Science, or similar
  • 10 years of experience in food safety
  •  Management experience
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA food safety regulations
  • Experience with implementation a GFSI Food safety program
  • USDA regulations knowledge is a plus
  • HACCP certified preferred
  • Experience with SQF (Certification a big plus)
  • Experience working with savory flavors and spices is preferred
  • Effective communication skills/ ability to work in a team environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred
